Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This policy explains what we collect when you use the Hawcus website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers hawcus.com. The Hawcus application at app.hawcus.com is covered by the agreement you sign as a customer.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit the contact form or book a demo, we collect the details you type into it:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you book a demo
- Your business name or website
- Your team size and anything you write in the message box
We ask for these so a person can reply to you. Nothing on this website requires you to create an account.
Information collected automatically
On blog articles we measure how the page performs. Specifically:
- Page views. One view per reader per article, deduplicated so a refresh does not count twice.
- Reading time. How long the tab was actually visible, reported once when you leave the page.
- Scroll depth. How far down the article you reached.
To count a reader without identifying them, we take your IP address and browser user agent, combine them with a secret value, and store only a one-way hash of the result. We do not store your raw IP address, and the hash cannot be reversed to recover it.
2. Cookies
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracker on any page.
One cookie exists, named hawcus_admin. It is set only when a member of our team signs in to the blog admin panel, it is HttpOnly, and it expires after 12 hours. It is never set for ordinary visitors.
3. Why we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry or arrange your demo
- To follow up about that enquiry if you have not heard from us
- To understand which articles are useful, in aggregate
- To keep the site working and secure, including limiting how often the same address can submit a form
We do not use your enquiry to add you to a marketing list without asking, and we do not build a profile of you across other websites.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Your information is handled by a small number of providers who help us run the site:
- Google Workspace. Enquiries are delivered to our inbox, so Google processes them as our email provider.
- Google Fonts. Pages load the Inter typeface from Google's servers, which means your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com.
- Our hosting provider. The server that stores enquiries and blog data.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while the conversation is live and for as long as we have a reasonable business need afterwards. If you ask us to delete yours, we will. Blog analytics are aggregated and contain no identifying information, so they are kept indefinitely.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your enquiry and any record of it
- Stop contacting you
Email hello@hawcus.com and we will action it. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason to be removed.
7. Security
Enquiries are stored in a database that is not publicly reachable. Admin access requires a password, stored only as a salted hash, and sessions are signed and time limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not keep card details or any other payment information on this website.
8. Children
Hawcus is a business product. This website is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be made obvious rather than slipped in quietly.
10. Contact us
